STAND North Wales CIC
Stronger Together for Additional Needs and Disabilities
Wishing you all a Happy New Year. Well, it might not be the New Year we were all hoping for but don’t forget we are here to support you along the way. We appreciate that you are having to home school again so here are a few things on offer to support you:
The Stay, play and learn with STAND Facebook page to share ideas of low cost / no cost activities for families. This is where we post ideas, share ideas from other pages as well as encourage parents to share ideas. If you would like to join this page the link you need is:
https://www.facebook.com/Standstayplayandlearn
You will find a list of websites to support childrens learning in the download section (About, resources, downloads)
We will also be making up monthly activity packs which can be printed out and will include things like recipes, puzzles, craft projects, colouring and lots more. The first one of these is available to download via the download section as well as the orginal weekly packs from the last lockdown.
Parent forum:
As we are still unable to run our parent support groups in venues during this time, we will still be running our parent forum on our Face book platform every Wednesday 10.00 – 12.00. This is for parents with children / young people with additional needs and disabilities who are signed up to STAND North Wales CIC. If you would like to join the forum please visit our page and answer all the questions asked and please read the rules and agree to them for the safety and confidentiality of the group. The page link needed is:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/887780691694661
We will also continue to run our parent support group once a month via zoom on a Wednesday morning for those that wish to join us. We have speakers from other organisations on various topics who will be joining us each time. Reminders about these will be emailed out before hand and also be out on our main Facebook page and twitter. The next one for all counties is on Wednesday 20th January 10.00 – 12.00 noon.
We have a designated monthly forum for families living in Flintshire which runs on a Monday morning which runs the same way. The next one will be on Monday the 18th of January 10.00 – 12.00 noon.
Let’s Talk- Stronger Together
Let’s talk together is a confidential and non-judgemental telephone service from STAND North Wales CIC offering opportunities to talk with a member of the STAND Team who can offer reassurance and practical and emotional support.
We understand that as a carer of a young person or adult with additional needs / disabilities it can be challenging and exhausting at times and the chance to just talk to someone who understands can help to relieve stress and anxiety.
If this is something you feel who would benefit from please Email [email protected] or [email protected] or you can text your details to 07947259622.
You will then be offered a time slot for a member of the team to call you.
Please note we must stress this service is NOT a Helpline or counselling service. It is just an opportunity to chat with someone who cares.
Random Acts of Kindness Challenge 2021: ‘Doing Good Together’
During the months of February and March we at STAND North Wales would like to carry out 100 random acts of kindness across North Wales and would like to encourage YOU to sign up and become one of our kindness ambassadors.
How great would it be that our random acts of kindness and good deeds could make someone else’s day?
Just think how different this world would be if everyone took a few minutes out of their week to do something kind for someone else.
Acts of kindness do not need to be expensive and can be as simple as paying someone a compliment.
If you would like to Sign up to become a Kindness ambassador and show your support or if you would like to nominate a person to receive a random act of kindness please email: [email protected]
Please note all random acts of kindness must be carried out safely and following COVID-19 Government guidelines.
